Bio

Andrea Randall brings over 25 years of teaching experience and 32 years of performing experience in a wide range of musical styles, including musical theatre, pop/rock, singer/songwriter, and various CCM styles. Originally from the Los Angeles area, Andrea lived and taught in Houston for nearly 20 years before relocating to New York City in 2022.

Andrea provides one-on-one, individualized instruction focused on functional vocal technique for healthy belting and legit singing. She emphasizes physical awareness of the student's instrument while encouraging emotional vulnerability in their storytelling. She also has experience working with trauma survivors, using somatic singing techniques as a healing tool alongside licensed therapists to help clients process and overcome life’s challenges.

The majority of Andrea’s private studio consists of working professionals, college students, and high school students preparing for competitive college auditions. Her high school students have consistently won and placed accross multiple categories at NATS events in New York City, Greater Houston, and the Texoma Region. Each year, her students earn over $200,000 in scholarships and are regularly accepted into prestigious BFA and music programs nationwide. Alumni can be found performing on Broadway, in national tours, opera houses, recording studios, cruise ships, and regional theatres across the country.

Andrea holds a Master of Arts in Music Psychology in Education, Performance, and Well-Being from the University of Sheffield in England, a Master of Arts in Theatre, and a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology. Before switching to psychology in her final year of undergrad, she spent eight years studying classical and musical theatre vocal performance, vocal pedagogy, theatre, and dance at California State University, Los Angeles, the University of La Verne, and Citrus College in Southern California.

Teaching Philosophy

Andrea’s teaching philosophy is grounded in the psychological connection between body and mind. She believes that authentic storytelling emerges from both creative and intellectual exploration, with the arts serving as a direct line of communication between the performer and the audience. Establishing a collaborative, trusting relationship with students is central to her approach.

Recognizing that performing can surface complex emotions and memories, Andrea incorporates somatic, psychological, and emotional alignment in her teaching. She encourages students to analyze characters through a psychological lens and to engage deeply in personal growth to become more connected artists and effective storytellers.

Her goal is to empower students to trust themselves, develop their own emotional awareness, and achieve effective and sustainable vocal production for a long life of healthy singing. By focusing on individual goals and overcoming mental and technical barriers, students can engage fully in the creative process and find themselves along the way.

Andrea is committed to staying current with emerging research and techniques in vocal anatomy, pedagogy, and the mind-body connection. She regularly attends workshops and collaborates with leading instructors to ensure her students receive the highest quality education.
